Gov. Ned Lamont announced late Saturday that a confirmed case of the COVID-19 omicron variant had been detected in Connecticut for the first time.

The variant was confirmed by sequencing performed at the Connecticut State Public Health Laboratory. It was found in “a man in his 60s from Hartford County,” according to a news released issued Saturday.

According to Lamont’s announcement, the man developed mild symptoms on Nov. 27, and on Nov. 29 had a positive at-home COVID-19. A subsequent molecular test conducted on Dec. 1 was also positive.
